The first-ever Hockey Day in Eugene, a day-long celebration of all things hockey, will be held this Saturday at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon.
The event will be highlighted by USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free, the 4th annual Eugene Generals Blood Drive, and an exhibition game between the Generals and the Eugene Blues.
"The Lane County hockey community has always been tight-knit," said Generals GM Alex Stimson, "but that closeness between our adult, youth, and junior programs has been amplified in recent years thanks to concerted efforts from the Lane Amateur Hockey Association (LAHA), The Rink Exchange, and our own organization. Hockey Day in Eugene is another step towards further integrating all facets of Lane County hockey together. It's a celebration of our community and the game of hockey as a whole."
Saturday's Hockey Day in Eugene schedule at The Rink Exchange will be full of nonstop action, illustrated below:
8:15am & 10:30am | Classes
Hockey and skating classes kick off Saturday's schedule with The Rink Exchange's weekly hockey class starting bright and early at 8:15am followed by Learn To Skate, hosted by the Eugene Figure Skating Club, at 10:30am.

2:00pm | Try Hockey For Free
Try Hockey For Free returns this Saturday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Open to children ages 4-9, Try Hockey For Free provides kids the opportunity to experience hockey for the first time without any cost associated.
All proper gear and equipment is provided and Generals players and staff will be on hand to provide instruction both on and off of the ice. No previous skating or hockey experience is required.

3:15pm & 5:45pm | Eugene Jr. Generals (14U | Blue) vs. Klamath Falls Ice Hawks
After the conclusion of Try Hockey For Free, the Eugene Jr. Generals 14U Blue team will hit the ice for a pair of games against the visiting Klamath Falls Ice Hawks, the former youth association of current Generals forward Hunter Boivin. The Jr. Gens and Ice Hawks will face off first at 3:15pm and again at 5:45pm.

4:30pm | Eugene Generals vs. Eugene Blues (Exhibition Game)
Sandwiched between the two Jr. Generals games is the first-ever meeting between the Eugene Generals and the Eugene Blues. The two sides will play in an hour-long exhibition game that will include three, 15-minute periods with a running clock.
The Blues, formerly a semi-pro team that played out of The Rink Exchange, will feature a roster of former players, members of the local adult hockey community, and members of the Rink Exchange Hockey League (RHL).
Tickets to Saturday's game between the Gens and Blues are half off regular price ($5) and children under the age of five are free of charge.
1:00pm to 4:00pm | 4th annual Eugene Generals Blood Drive
Fans that sign-up and donate blood at the 4th annual Eugene Generals Blood Drive will be entered to win a one-of-a-kind Generals 'zombie' jersey, shown above.
From 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Lane Bloodworks will be at The Rink Exchange accepting whole blood donations. All fans that donate blood during the Eugene Generals Blood Drive automatically receive free admission to the exhibition game between the Generals and Blues. Furthermore, donors will be entered into a raffle for a one-of-a-kind Generals 'zombie' jersey worn by the team on February 16 against the Oregon Ducks.
