Bragging rights are on the line. On Saturday, the Eugene Generals will square off against the University of Oregon for the fourth and final time of the 2018-19 season. The Gens hold a 2-1 advantage heading into the series finale.
The common denominator in the Generals success? Two words…Carson Roisum. Eugene’s goaltender has been nothing short of spectacular, recording a combined 108 saves in Eugene’s two wins versus the Ducks, a 4-3 shootout win on Sept. 28 and 5-3 win on Feb. 1.
The Generals have yet to find an answer for Jack Geraghty. The Oregon forward has scored five goals versus Eugene this season, including all three of the Ducks goals on Feb 1.
Oregon comes into Saturday with momentum. On Sunday, the Ducks shut out Cal 3-0 to win the Pac-8 hockey title. They will open against Williston State on Mar. 1 in West Regionals. Saturday’s game versus the Gens will help serve as a tune-up for a team looking to hit its stride at the end of the season.
Eugene, though, has played some of their best hockey of the season as of late, coming into Saturday with a season-high three game win streak. Saturday’s game will kick off a five-game homestand to end the regular season.
The Generals will wear one-of-a-kind 'zombie' jerseys (shown above) on Saturday against the Oregon Ducks to commemorate the upcoming Eugene Generals Blood Drive on February 23 at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon.
