The Eugene Generals (1-1-0) and the University of Oregon (0-0-0) will face off this Friday and Saturday in a two-game series at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon.
The matchup marks the second consecutive season that the two programs will face off against one another. Last year, the Ducks won three of four meetings between the two teams.
The Gens enter the weekend fresh off splitting a two-game series against Western Washington University where both games were decided by just one goal. Eugene netted a 4-3, shootout win last Friday against WWU before the Vikings staged an improbable, come-from-behind effort to win, 8-7, the following night. Meanwhile, the Ducks will be taking the ice in their first competitive action of the season.
"It's a matchup that we're all excited for," said Generals Associate GM Alex Stimson. "I think it's a tremendous thing for our local hockey community to have these two programs facing off in a competitive yet fun atmosphere. What [GM] Sam Rosenberg, [Head Coach] Rylee Orr and [Assistant Coach] Cooper Limb have done in the short time with the Ducks program is very impressive, and they clearly have the team on a trajectory for tremendous success. We're going to face some adversity this weekend against a quality opponent and I'm excited to see how our team confronts and, hopefully, embraces that challenge."
As both teams call The Rink Exchange home, the Ducks will serve as the home team for Friday night's game while the Generals will serve as the home team on Saturday.
Tickets to Friday's game be purchased in-person at The Rink Exchange starting at approximately 6:30pm PST. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students/seniors/military, and children under the age of 10 are free of charge. The Oregon Ducks will provide a live, free broadcast of Friday's game, details of which will be posted closer to game time on their various social media accounts.
