The Eugene Generals are proud to announce the re-signing of forward Calvin Hennon for the 2018-19 season.
Hennon tallied 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 overall points during the 2017-18 season, his first season of junior hockey.
A native of Monroe, Oregon, Hennon grew up playing in the Jr. Generals youth hockey organization. He was one of six former Jr. Gens that suited up at the junior level for Eugene during last season (Dupras, Friesen, Hennon, Minchin, Rhodes, Thornton).
Having been a Generals fan all his life, last season was a dream realized for the local product. “I grew up going to Gens games and high-fiving the Generals; that was a really big deal to me when I was just a kid,” said Hennon. “I vividly remember my first home game last season and just how amazing it was to put on the jersey that I had idolized for so long. It was just an unbelievable feeling. Overall, it was a great first season and I am totally ready to be back. As soon as the season ended I was depressed and ready to start the next season.”
Now entering his second season of junior hockey, Hennon will aim to transition from role player to difference-maker for Generals Head Coach Justin Kern. “I’m definitely looking to shoulder a lot more of the load,” said Hennon. “I want to take a few more steps forward. I feel even more determined this year and I have a lot of confidence. During the Preseason Evaluation Camp, I felt super confident in what I was doing and I’m just ready to go and hit the ice.”
“Calvin had a tremendous camp in April,” added Coach Kern. “He really displayed some of the great strides he took during last season. When you’re working with him, he takes in everything like a sponge and we just love his attention to detail. All of us in the organization are very excited to see what he can do this season.”
More signings are anticipated in the coming days and weeks as the Generals prepare for the team's fourteenth season of play. Preparations for 2018-19 continue with the Eugene Generals Training Camp which is scheduled for August 10-13 at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon.
