Wild Weather Forces Shake Up In Winter Showcase Schedule

Blizzard conditions barreling in on the Northeast have forced the cancellation of Friday's doubleheader at the USPHL Winter Showcase in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

This story will update as details emerge.

The Eugene Generals will depart Eugene for Boston early Thursday morning ahead of playing five games in three days at the USPHL Winter Showcase in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

The fluidity of impending weather throughout the Boston area may continue to alter travels plans for teams still en route to Massachusetts, and therefore the above schedule is subject to change. Stay tuned for more updates.

A ground stoppage anticipated for tomorrow afternoon at Boston's Logan International Airport has resulted in teams throughout the USPHL receiving news this afternoon of cancelled flights while Boston prepares for an estimated 8 to 12 inches of snow on Thursday.

The Generals are one of the many teams to fall into that very category as the team's cross-country flight scheduled for early Thursday morning was officially cancelled earlier this afternoon. The team is now currently scheduled to depart Eugene on Friday morning and arrive in Boston on Friday evening.

As such, Friday's previously scheduled doubleheader against the Beijing Shougang Eagles and the Daytona Racers have both now been postponed. With Eugene's situation being far from unique, the USPHL league office and Winter Showcase staff are working closely with all team scheduled to attend that suitable alternative arrangements can be made with while ensuring the safety of all parties involved.

This story will update as details emerge. Check back for updates regarding schedule changes for the upcoming Winter Showcase.
