The Eugene Generals (28-7-3, 59pts) face off against the West Sound Warriors (3-33-1, 7pts) this Friday, February 3rd and Saturday, February 4th at 7:30pm PST at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon to kick off a six-game homestand that will wrap up the USPHL regular season. The Generals will be able to clinch the regular season Pacific Division title by claiming just one point from either game this weekend.
Through ten previous meetings this season, the Generals have posted a 9-0-1 record against the Warriors, however West Sound's lone win over Eugene came just three weeks ago in Bremerton. Despite that, Eugene has outscored West Sound by a 67-13 margin in their ten previous matchups combined.
Last weekend, a shorthanded Generals side swept a two-game series against the Tri-City Outlaws behind wins of 12-3 and 7-2, respectively. Team-leading scorer Cody Arbelovsky shined as he scored seven goals over the two games to pull himself into a tie with Tyler Tymchuck (2006-08) for third all-time in Generals franchise history for goals scored in a single season (40) while also passing Ryan Schank (2005-07) for sole possession of fifth all-time in Generals franchise history for overall points in a single season (76).
Recent additions Adam Shimamoto and Colton Symbol will be making their Generals home debuts this weekend after each was acquired from the Tri-City Outlaws. Shimamoto is currently ranked ninth in the USP3HL in overall points (62) while Symbol is ranked 23rd (49).
Currently holding an eleven-point lead over the second place Seattle Ravens, the Generals need just one point over their final six games of the season to clinch the regular season Pacific Division title and home ice in the upcoming Pacific Division Championship Series. The winner of the PDCS will advance to Massachusetts to play in the 2017 USPHL Beantown Classic where the USP3HL champion will be crowned.
The puck drops between the Generals and Warriors at 7:30pm PST on both Friday and Saturday night at The Rink Exchange in Eugene, Oregon.
