Hockey season is finally back, as the Eugene Generals began their first practice Monday morning.
The players report to Eugene just two weeks after the Generals held their Main Camp. The Generals will have 21 players on their roster after a large turnout during the team’s successful Main Camp.
After a busy offseason recruiting, Generals Head Coach Justin Kern is looking forward to finally getting the season underway. “I’m excited for the guys to be back here [in Eugene]. I’ve talked to each of the players and they’re all very excited to be here.”
As far as practices are concerned, Coach Kern acknowledged how difficult they might be, though “everyone is planning on working hard and it should be a lot of fun.”
The first few days of practices will surely test the players, as the team will hold two on-ice practices and an off-ice workout. Generals’ practices, on and off the ice, are open to the public and the media. Here is a schedule of the practices for the first two days:
- Monday, August 31st
- 9:00am-10:30am (On-ice)
- 12:00pm-1:30pm (On-ice)
- 3:00pm-5:00pm (Off-ice)
- Tuesday, September 1st
- 8:00am-9:30am (On-ice)
- 11:00am-12:30pm (On-ice)
- 2:00pm-3:30pm (Off-ice)
As noted above, the players do not practice on September 2nd or 3rd. Instead, the team will be going on a camping trip during those two days as part of a team building activity.
The Generals will continue getting ready for their eleventh season, which begins in about a month. Stay tuned for more updates about the schedule through the Generals’ Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
