Eugene, OR. -The Eugene Generals (7-8-0-1) will be on the road this weekend when they play Thursday and Friday in Kennewick, Washington to face the Tri-Cities Outlaws (2-16-0-0).
This will be the first time the Generals and Outlaws will meet in Tri-Cities this weekend. The two teams played a pair of early October games in Eugene, with the Generals winning both. The Generals cruised to an 8-2 win in their first meeting, and pulled away in the third period of the next game to earn a 6-2 victory.
Last weekend, the Generals travelled to Bellingham for two road games on the Blazers’ home ice. The Generals were short on players, having only two full lines for both games. As a result, they could not keep up, losing 7-0 on Friday and 8-2 on Saturday.
The Outlaws played a home and away game against the Cheney Icehawks last weekend. In Cheney on Friday night, the Outlaws could not keep up as they lost 7-3. On Saturday, the Outlaws were on their home ice and tied with Cheney at one going into the final period. The Icehawks scored three straight to hand Tri-Cities a 4-2 defeat.
With a full roster expected this weekend, the Generals will look to get back on track and be more aggressive with more depth. The Generals’ top three scorers, Connor Hoernlein, Dans Berzanskis, and Mark Mezsargs, will be back playing alongside one another; Berzanskis missed Friday’s contest while Mezsargs did not play at all in Bellingham.
Tri-Cities will rely on their veterans to provide the offense for the team. Christopher Helms is the team’s leading scorer with eleven points, all eleven goals. Conversely, Brenden Odell is second on the Outlaws in points with all nine of his points coming on assists.
Both games will begin at 7:35. Fans can follow Thursday’s and Friday’s action via Pointstreak or Fast Hockey.
