Blazers snap Generals’ winning-streak

EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Generals (14-7-1) had their five-game-winning-streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Bellingham Blazers (11-12-1).

The Generals were held scoreless for the first 21 minutes of play tonight.

Bellingham on the other hand, found the back of the net three times before the first period let out.

Blazers player Dawson Quint was the first player to light the lamp tonight. Quint’s goal was recorded 8:36 into the first period, and was a power play goal.

Bellingham finished the first period strong by scoring two back-to-back goals. Cody Rich recorded his first goal at 18:01, and his second at 19:47 of the first period.

The Generals put their first points on the scoreboard 1:34 into the second period. Stephen Soloway was awarded the goal, and Connor Bambico and Hunter Hartman each received an assist on Soloway’s goal.

Rich recorded a hat trick on a short handed goal 2:43 into the second period.

The Generals played their strongest 20 minutes in the third period.

To put the Generals within two goals, Soloway made an across ice pass from the point to Bambico, who was waiting at the top of the faceoff circle. Bambico one-timed Soloway’s pass, and lit the lamp, on the power play, 1:03 into the third period.

Hartman scored the Generals final goal on a high shot that was placed on the stick side of the Blazers goaltender. The puck was misplayed by the Blazers goalie, and fell behind him into the net at 16:19. Hartman’s goal was a power play goal.

The Generals will take on the Blazers tomorrow night for the Generals second Scout Night With The Generals. All Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Brownies that attend the game in uniform will receive 50 percent off admission and a special Generals Scout patch.
