Generals Snap Three Game Losing Streak

Eugene, OR -The Eugene Generals (3-5) spanned their three game losing streak last night, Oct. 27. The Glacier Nationals (2-9) gave everything they had when the Generals came into town, but the Generals defeated Glacier 3-1.

Much of the first period was filled with penalties last night. Glacier defenseman Kyle Watne took the first penalty of the night, receiving 2:00 for high sticking. The Generals were unable to generate the offensive gusto to capitalize on their first man advantage of the night.

At 10:20 of the first period, Generals Captain Christian Merritt was slapped with two penalties. Merritt received 2:00 for slashing and 10:00 for unsportsman like conduct.

The Generals penalty kill was able to battle against the Nationals power play. The game remained tied at 0-0.

Nationals player Keenan Ural took a 2:00 high sticking penalty towards the end of the first period that led to the first goal of the game. Joe Edwards scored the Generals first goal of the night on the power play. Edwards would be assisted by Michael Johnston and Connor Bambico.

Glacier took to the ice in the second period determined to tie the game and take the lead. With 7:56 elapsed in the second period Glacier forward Tim Munoz scored an even strength goal against the Generals. Danny Roe and Rudi Baldwin each received an assist for Munoz’s goal.

At the end of the second period the score read 1-1.

The Generals scored twice in the third period and won the game. Julian Herrera scored the Generals second goal of the night on an even strength goal. Johnston notched his second assist of the night on Herrera’s goal, and Merritt received an assist as well.

Kirby Carlson scored the Generals third goal tonight, and would to it short handed. Carlson’s unassisted goal was scored on an empty net with 0:12 remaining in the game. After Carlson’s goal, Glacier would not have enough time on the clock to score two goals. Eugene went on to win the game 3-1.
