Week Preview: Generals Host the Spartans and Victory

Eugene, OR -The Eugene General (5-6-0) will host the Southern Oregon Spartans (13-4-0) on Monday Nov. 14 and the Vancouver Victory (8-5-0) Tuesday Nov. 15 at 5:35 p.m. Each game will be a Generals Hockey Nights for Education (GHNE) event.
On Monday, the Generals have invited Churchill High School and Camas Ridge Elementary School from the 4J School District to participate in GHNE.
On Tuesday, the Generals have invited Elizabeth Page Elementary School and Agnes Stewart Middle School from the Springfield School District to participate in GHNE.
The last time the Generals faced off against the Spartans was over a month ago, and the Generals were victorious. The Generals had their three-game winning streak snapped in their last game against the Yellowstone Quake. With the Generals seven suspended players back in the lineup, the team is looking to start a new winning streak.
In the last two matches between the Generals and Spartans, Christian Merritt scored three points (three goals). Each of Merritt’s points came from the Generals power play, which operates at 19.2 percent efficiency against the Spartans.
Generals defenseman Mikio Minobe is the team’s second leading scorer against the Spartans. Minobe has two points (two assists) in two games against the Spartans.
Spartans forward Tyler Belmont is the opposing player to watch in this match up. Belmont, with four points (one goal, three assists) against the Generals and poses a significant threat. Forward Karl Trogens may not be the Spartans point leader, but with three points (two goals, one assist) against the Generals Trogens is another man the Generals will have to keep an eye on.
The last time the Generals hosted the Vancouver Victory, the Generals lost 6-3. But this time the Generals are looking for a victory of their own.
In the single game these two teams have played against each other, Generals forward Kirby Carlson managed to score the team leading three points (two goals, one assist). One of Carlson’s goals was made on an individual effort, and was the Generals only unassisted goal of the game.
The Victory is home to the Bordak brothers, who are three of the four leading scorers for the Victory when these two teams play. Avik Bordak (one goal, two assists) has a team leading three points against the Generals, and his two brothers Elijah Bordak (one goal, one assist) and Joe Bordak (two assists) each have two points.
Be here, at the Lane County Ice Arena, Monday at 5:35 p.m. to watch the Generals face off against the Spartans on the first of many GHNE. And make sure to come the following night when the Generals host the Victory at 5:35 p.m. for the second night of GHNE.
