Weekend Preview: Yellowstone Series

EUGENE, Ore. -The Eugene Generals (15-12-0) will embark on a three game road trip this week, and play the Yellowstone Quake (16-13-2) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Generals are 1-2 when facing the Quake. In their most recent game, the Quake defeated the Generals 6-3.

Leading the Generals is scoring against the Quake is forward Christian Merritt who has five points (one goal, three assists) in three games. Merritt is followed by forwards Kirby Carlson, four points (one goal, two assists), and Chris Videto three points (three goals) in three games.

Videto also has some of the hottest hands on the team. In the Generals last five games, Videto has four points (three goals, one assist).

However, Videto is not alone in this scoring category. In their last five games, forward Cody Andersen and defenseman Tony Vargas are tied for the most points on the team. Andersen (two goals, three assists) and Vargas (one goal, four assists) each have a five points over the course of the Generals last five games.

When these two teams have met, the Quake have looked towards Mitchell Pijanowski to lead the team in scoring. Pijanowski has seven points (four goals, three assists) in two games against the Generals. Alex Johansons has been the Quake’s second offensive threat. Johansons has five points (one goal, four assists) in three games against Eugene.

In the last five games, the Quake have mustered up serious offensive power.

Quake player Nathan Morris has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in his last five games. While, Dre Parus has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last four games.

If the Generals can sweep the Quake this weekend they will leapfrog them in the standings, and may move up two positions.
