Weekend Preview: Generals Play Warriors on the Road

EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Generals (16-14-2) will play on the road this Friday against the West Sound Warriors (12-20-1).

The Generals will be looking to rebound after losing in both of their games this past weekend to the Southern Oregon Spartans.

Since the holiday break, both teams have been struggling. Last month the Generals went 3-5-2, and the Warriors went 4-6-1. Each team will look to start February on the right foot with a win.

In their last three matchups against the Warriors, the Generals have received the bulk of their scoring from Kirby Carlson, Chris Videto, Connor Bambico, and Julian Herrera. Carlson (two goals, four assists) and Videto (two goals, four assists) each have six points. In addition, Bambico (two goals, three assists) and Herrera (four goals, one assist) each have five points in the three games against the West Sound team.

However, the Generals hottest players remain out of this scoring category for the time being.

Over the last five games, Generals forwards Randy Ludwig (six goals, six assists), Christian Merritt (four goals, four assists) and Kyle McKibben (one goal, six assists) have accumulated 27 points between themselves.

In the prior meetings between these two teams, the Generals have looked to Brad Robertson to protect the net. Robertson has a .929 save percentage and 2.74 goals against average when facing the Warriors.

The Warriors have plenty of offensive threats.

In their last five games, Warriors players Bryan Mueller (eight assists), Brian Farkas (five goals, two assists) and Kai Wilkins (four goals, three assists) have accumulated 22 points between themselves.

The Warriors have three players on their roster who have more points on the season than the Generals leading scorer, and two players with more than 50 points.

Warriors players Josh Twietmeyer, 58 points (22 goals, 36 assists); Farkas, 51 points (17 goals, 34 assists); and Mueller, 45 points (six goals, 39 assists) all pose as serious threats to the Generals.

Join Alex Stimson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday to listen to this week’s installment of EGHN, and find out what the team has to say about this weekend’s road trip. Stimson will be joined by Videto, Joe Edwards and one of the newest members to join the Generals roster.

Coverage of the game will not be provided by EGHN this week. Tune into EGHN next week when the Generals play four home games in a row.
