- Created: 16 October 2010
Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (5-5) beat the Puget Sound Tomahawks 3-2 Saturday night. Co-Captain Christian Merritt, led the Generals with three points (2 goals and 1 assist) to beat Puget Sound. The first period ended with zero goals scored.
In the second period Christian Merritt scored on the power play when the puck flew across the crease from a Patrick Moodie's pass. During the third period, newly acquired Chad Vivian, who formerly played for Puget Sound, scored against his old team with Christian Merritt on the assist. Then the tables turned when Puget scored two goals within one minute. Blair Johnson scored on a power play with assists coming from Mitchell Wilson and Eric Schmit. And seconds later Mitchell Wilson found the Generals goalie out of position and scored. With under a minute to go Christian Merritt scored off a rebound with assisted by Patrick Moodie and Brad Main.
Assisted Coach Brent Seidel was asked about tonight's game and said, "The boys spirits and demeanor were a lot higher tonight than it was last night which resulted in better on-ice play both offensively and defensively. We out shot Puget by 23 and Puget's goalie keep them in the game. Hopefully, we maintain high spirits and keep the momentum going until next weekend as we face tough opponents in Puget Sound and Seattle who will be traveling down to Eugene."
The Generals will be home once again next weekend hosting Puget Sound again next Friday night October 22 and then Seattle on Saturday October 23. Both games will start at 7:35pm and will be broadcast on EGHN with pre-game starting line ups at 7:15. For more information about the Eugene Generals or EGHN visit eugenegenerals.com .
