Generals went 1-3 in Spokane for the Winter Showcase

Spokane, WA - The Eugene Generals traveled to Spokane, Washington December 10th-12th to play in the NORPAC Winter Showcase. The Generals were 1-3 during the weekend. They lost to the Missoula Maulers, Helena Bighorns and the Bozeman Icedogs. Their only win came against the Butte Roughriders. The Winter Showcase consisted of teams playing 4 cross-divisional games, and the games were two 25-minute periods.

The Generals lost their first game to the Maulers 3-1, and the Generals were outshot 48-19. The Maulers scored all three of their goals in the first period. Cody Skilling (2) and Dillon Bograt scored for the Maulers. Brad Main scored the only goal of the game for the Generals, assisted by Patrick Moodie.

The Generals had two games on Saturday playing the Helena Bighorns and the Bozeman Icedogs. The Generals played the Bighorns first losing the game 7-1. Six of the Bighorns seven goals were scored in the first period. Michael Sullivan and Chris Rinaldi gave the Bighorns a 2-0 lead. Jordan Blake-Jones scored the only goal of the game for the Generals. After Blake-Jones goal, the Bighorns scored 5 unanswered goals.

The Generals allowed the Icedogs to score three unanswered goals in the second period, giving the Icedogs a 6-3 win. Justin Gregory scored the first goal of the game for the Generals, assists by Kirby Carlson and Jordan Blake-Jones. Ryan DAgostino and Hazen Ripple put the Icedogs up 2-1. Patrick Moodie tied the game on the on the powerplay, and the game was tied heading into the first intermission. With the Generals trialing by one in the third period Brain Main scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by Christian Merritt. Hazen Ripple, Cody Blom and Zach Baker scored the three unanswered goals for the Icedogs to win the game.

The Generals beat the Butte Roughriders on Sunday 7-2. Jimmy Reed, Randy Ludwig, Brad Main and Kirby Carlson scored in the first period for the Generals. Justin Huelsman Justin Gregory, and Sean Park scored in the period. Trent Goulet and Tyler Dunn scored the two goals for the Roughriders. Justin Huelsman, Justin Gregory and Christian Merritt finished the game with two points.
