Generals Celebrate the New Year With a Full Weekend of Games

The Eugene Generals (13-17) have a full weekend of games to bring in the New Year with games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday, the Generals will take on the River City Jaguars (10-20) at River City. On Friday, for their New Year's Eve celebration, the Generals will attempt to ring in the New Year with a win against the Southern Oregon Spartans (20-10). Then, to start off 2011, the Generals will again face off with the Spartans.

Along with the Generals New Year's Eve Celebration the Generals will be offering a holiday special where every Generals fan that wears Oregon Duck gear to Friday's game will receive 2 tickets for the price of 1. In addition, the Generals will be holding a public session after the game.

The Generals won their last game on December 16th against the River City Jaguars 7-3. The teams have met six times previously this season with the Generals? winning four of those match ups. The Jaguars are six points behind the Generals in the NORPAC standings.

For the Generals New Years Eve Celebration on Friday night the Generals will take on the Southern Oregon Spartans. The Generals and the Spartans have played each other seven times earlier this season and the Spartans have won six of those games. The Generals only win over the Spartans came in overtime and the last time the teams met Southern Oregon won by more than six goals.

The Generals will face off against the Spartans for the second time of the weekend on Saturday night at 7:35.

"The boys are real excited to get back to business after a ten day Christmas break. We have a tough weekend ahead of us but I think the team is really starting to do things together as a team well, which is what we have been driving towards all season,? head coach Chuck Kennedy said about this weekend's games.

"Trust takes time, new systems take time, and I think we are starting to gel as a group at the right time. I'm excited as well to continue our development objectives and really get us prepared for the stretch run into the playoffs. It looks like Southern Oregon may end up being our first round opponent and they are a really solid team so we must be focused, prepared, and show a sense of urgency at all times for 60 minutes each night. It is going to be a fun weekend for the fans!"

The Generals away game on Thursday will start at 7:55 pm. On both Friday and Saturday, the puck will be dropped at 7:35 and the pregame will start at 7:15.
