The Eugene Generals (25-3) were able to pull out an exciting 3-2 win over Rogue Valley Wranglers (4-26) in Medford, OR Saturday night. The Generals entered the game with a franchise record 14 game winning streak, and they were able to hold on for the win to push the record to 15. The Generals now have the second longest current winning streak in NORPAC.
“We faced a lot of adversity tonight, but we were able to persevere for the win,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “You can’t take anything away from the effort of the Wranglers tonight. They played us hard, and made us earn the two points. Right now we have to put all of our focus on the Helena Bighorns, and get ready for the Showcase.”
The Wranglers were able to get on the board first with a power play goal 9:20 into the first period. The Generals would answer back just a little over two minutes later when Dylan Woodring assisted Neil Holder on the power play. The Generals would take the lead 14:05 into the frame when Ray Frianeza put one in the back of the net.
The Generals would take a 3-1 lead 7:43 into the second period when Ryan McDonald and Neil Holder assisted Eric Watters on the power play. The Wranglers would cut the lead back down to one with fewer than five minutes remaining in the second, but they would not be able to knot the contest. Generals goaltender Dylan Woodring made 36 saves in the game.
