The Eugene Generals announced earlier today that Chris Bilder will the Generals Assistant Coach.
This is Bilder’s first Junior hockey coaching position. This will be Bilder’s fifth year with the Generals, and he will maintain his position of Director of Public Relations.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” Bilder stated. “I am looking forward to playing a direct role in the development of our players and our team. This will be my fifth year with the team, and I am very familiar with the way things are run here in Eugene. I feel that I bring a lot to the table, but I know I have a lot to learn. I am excited to be working with Jay [Miller], and we are both looking forward to a great season. In the end, I can’t think of a better place to start my coaching career than with the Generals.”
Bilder will join Coach Miller on the bench this season. This will be Miller’s second year as Head Coach of the Generals, and his fourth year with the team. In his first season as Head Coach, Miller set franchise records for wins in a season, consecutive wins, consecutive home wins and consecutive road wins.
“[Chris] Bilder has been a part of every aspect of this team since its inception,” Miller stated. “He provided a sounding board and support throughout last season, and he was the ideal choice for Assistant Coach. He should bring a new look and a fresh perspective to our game plan.”
Bilder and Miller have already begun recruiting for next season, and will travel to Washington, British Columbia, Minnesota, Colorado, Alaska, Nevada and Texas during the summer to scout prospective players for the Generals 2009/10 roster.
