The Eugene Generals (31-10) will travel to Mountlake Terrace, WA this weekend to face the Seattle Totems (39-5) for the third weekend series between the two teams this weekend. The Generals will be on the road for the entire weekend for the first time in more than a month. Each team has come away victorious on home ice, but the Generals will be looking to end that trend this weekend. The Generals currently sit in third place in the NORPAC Pacific Division, and only trail the Tri-City Titans by two points. The Generals do have three games in hand, however, and are hoping to take over the second spot while the Titans have a bye week.
“Seattle is really tough at home,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “They play on big ice and know how to use it well. We’ll have to play with a lot of heart and execute, but if we can do that I have a lot of confidence in our team.”
The Generals have struggled against the Totems at Olympicview Ice Arena in the past. The Generals lost both games in Mountlake Terrace, WA this season, and are 2-6 against the Totems at Olympicview all-time. The Generals have defeated the Totems seven of the eight times the two teams have met in Eugene, but that doesn’t help the Generals this weekend.
The Totems have four games remaining in the regular season, and all of them are against the Generals. The Totems have locked up first place in the Pacific Division, and will be looking for a tune up heading into the first round of the playoffs against the River City Jaguars. The Generals are already slated to play the Tri-City Titans in the first round, but home-ice advantage is still yet to be decided. The Generals have seven games remaining in the season, which are all against teams heading into the playoffs. The Titans have four games remaining, and their match-up against the Generals is the only game the Titans will play against a team with a winning record.
The games this Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM at Olympicview Ice Arena will not be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
