Generals Hope to Reverse the Curse

The NORPAC Pacific Division third place Eugene Generals (31-12) have yet to win a road game against a playoff team this season. The Generals have a decent 11-10 road record this season, but are 0-9 when facing a playoff bound team on foreign ice. The Generals will get three chances this weekend to prove that they are capable of defeating playoff bound teams on the road.

The Generals will face the fourth place River City Jaguars (25-18) this Saturday and Sunday at the Valley Ice Arena in Beaverton, OR, and will travel to Pasco, WA to face the second place Tri-City Titans (33-12) at TRAC Ice Arena on Monday. The Generals started the season with the exact same three game road trip, and the Generals started the season with an 0-3 record. The Generals still have a shot at earning the second seed in the NORPAC Pacific Division Playoffs, but any loss could ruin their chances at earning that home ice advantage.

“This weekend is important for us,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We didn’t have a great weekend last weekend, and the road doesn’t get any easier. We only have five games before the playoffs start, and we would like to go into the playoffs with a winning streak.”

To go with the second spot in the playoffs, the Generals also have a couple of records on the line. The Generals were able to tie their single season win record two weeks ago, and need only one more win to create a new franchise mark. Tyler Tymchuk is only four goals behind the current Generals single season goal leader, Ryan Schank (41), and has five games to break that record. Justin Adams has already surpassed Kris Kranzky’s point’s record (90), and he needs only four more points to have the first 100 point season in Generals history.

The Generals will look to get off the road snide this Saturday at 7:00 PM and Sunday at 4:00 PM against the River City Jaguars, and Monday at 7:30 PM against the Tri-City Titans. The games will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit
