The Eugene Generals will be holding their final tryouts this week during the Generals Rookie Camp.
The camp will be held Wednesday-Sunday at Lane Events Center-Ice. The first to days of the camp will be devoted to evaluating the 13 goaltenders that have been hand selected to try out for the team. At the end of Thursday the Generals will cut the number of goalies to 8 for the main portion of Rookie Camp. At the completion of Rookie Camp the Generals will make their selections to fill out the roster.
“We’ve got a lot of key players returning this season, and a lot of good prospects coming to camp,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “With that combination we should be able to have a complete roster that will contend for the Cascade Cup again.”
The Generals will have 5 of their top 6 scorers from the 2005-06 season including 05-06 captain Ryan Schank. Schank scored 41 goals in 42 games with the Generals last season which put him not only at the top of the Generals, but also at the top of NOR PAC.
Most of the Generals returning players will arrive in Eugene on Monday, August 28. The returning, and new, Generals will begin Training Camp the following day. The Generals are opening the doors of Lane Events Center-Ice to the media throughout the duration of Rookie Camp August 23-27.
