The The Eugene Generals have just completed their second successful Tryout Camp of the season , and will begin their grueling Training Camp tomorrow. The six players from Rookie Camp that were asked to join the team for Training Camp will be fighting for their standing on the team. This doesn’t let the returning players off the hook, however. “We’re not in the business of not developing players,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly Stated. “We have to give everybody and equal shot. If we didn’t give every player a shot there would be no pressure for players to develop or perform.”
The Generals have 14 players returning, 2 tenders, and 6 players from Rookie Camp. The 14 returning players are: Garrett Bossert, Ryan Schank, Matt Vasilie, Kevin Crawford, Larry Dankenbring, Michael Frei, Justin Kern, Erik Kroll, Tyler MacMillan, Joe Myers, Ben Tikka, Scott Onken, Nick Maynes, Alex Ironside, and Drew Griffith. The Generals 2 tendered players are Trent McKee and Steven Slattery. The 6 players from Rookie Camp are: Justin Adams, Dylan Woodring, Jake Brewer, Nick Cimity, Brandon Podolsky, and Matt Bilder.
The Generals will begin an intense three-a-day schedule where they will begin off-ice training twice per day in training camp, and begin on-ice training once per day in training camp. This hectic schedule will prepare the team for their September 15 home opener against the River City Jaguars. “We only have a couple of weeks before our season starts so we need to get gong right away,” Coach Hartly exclaimed. “It sounds like a pretty crazy schedule, but we prepared the players like this last year, and we had nothing but great results.”
The Generals are opening the doors of Lane Events Center-Ice to the media throughout the duration of Training Camp August 29-September 2. For more information on the Generals Training Camp please visit www.eugenegenerals.com or contact Chris Bilder at (541) 359-4154.
