Generals Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey Auction Starts Tuesday

The Eugene Generals will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the second consecutive year. The Generals will be holding their 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night Friday, October 20 when they host the River City Jaguars. The Generals will be donning newly designed, limited edition, Breast Cancer Awareness jerseys for the special night. Those jerseys will be auctioned off on eBay starting Tuesday. The Generals will have links on their web site (www.eugenegenerals.com) that connect directly to the specific jersey auctions.

“We made it a priority to hold a Breast Cancer Awareness Night again this year,” Generals GM Flint Doungchak stated. “Breast Cancer Awareness Night was tremendously successful last year, and we were able to donate $2,500 to the American Cancer Society to support breast cancer research, prevention, and support for breast cancer survivors. Even though we were able to raise $2,500 through the jersey auction, we want to be able to raise even more this year.”

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and early detection is incredibly important in defeating breast cancer. Annual mammography screening for women over 40, or earlier for women at increased risk, is the best way to detect breast cancer early. When coupled with new treatment options, mammography screenings can significantly improve a woman’s chances of survival.

The Generals 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night on October 20th marks 2006’s National Mammography Day. The Generals encourage every woman over 40, or women at increased risk, have a mammography before or on the 2nd Annual Generals Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
