Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (7-4) defeated the Puget Sound Tomahawks (7-4) at Lane Events Center-Ice 12-6 tonight to move the team into a three way tie with Puget Sound and Seattle for second place in the NOR PAC Pacific Division. The Generals lead 5-3 heading into the third period, but put in a whopping seven goals in the third. The win improves the Generals winning streak to four after losing an unprecedented four in a row.
“We were never really playing bad, but we slowly built up to our best,” “By the time the third period came around we were hitting our strides, and we put the game away.”
Nine Generals players had multiple point nights. Garrett Bossert and Lucas Romero each had two goals and an assist. Matt Vasilie and Ben Tikka also put up three point nights, and Ryan Schank, Erik Kroll Michael Frei, Desi Ritari, and Scott Onken each had two points on the night.
The Generals dominated in every aspect of the game. They fired 69 shots at the Tomahawks, which proved to be too much for them to handle. The Generals were able to get 31 of those shots in the third period, and, as any coach would tell you, the third period is the most crucial period to win. The Generals outscored the Tomahawks 7-3 in the third, and the third Tomahawks goal came with :04 seconds left in the game.
The Generals will host the River City Jaguars next Friday and Saturday at 7:35 at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals will try to keep their winning streak alive when the face the Jaguars on Friday for the Generals 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Both games will be broadcast on GiTV.
