The Eugene Generals (7-4) will face the River City Jaguars (0-10) tomorrow night at 7:35 at Lane Events Center-Ice for the Generals 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The Generals are looking to keep their four game winning streak alive, while donning limited edition pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night Jerseys, and the Jaguars will be hungry for their first win of the season.
“We’ve been playing great hockey the last couple of weeks,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “I hope we can keep in rolling this weekend for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. It’s a great cause, and we’d love to get a win for the fans that attend. There is also a little extra motivation for the boys to win because no hockey player wants to lose wearing pink jerseys.”
This will be the third time the Generals have faced River City this season. The Generals hosted the Jaguars during Opening Weekend, and were able to come away with two victories. The Generals defeated the Jaguars 5-3 on Opening Night, which is the same night they saw their previous coach’s jersey hung to the rafters, and were able to easily dismantle the Jaguars on Saturday with a 9-2 win.
“There was a lot of emotion that poured into that first game against the Jaguars,” Coach Hartly said. “There should be a lot of emotion coming into tomorrow night’s game as well, but the frame of mind surrounding this game is definitely more positive.”
Ben Tikka and Garrett Bossert came through for the Generals in the last series the Generals faced the Jaguars, combining for eight points on the weekend, and they should be a serious threat to the Jaguars. Don’t expect them to do it all on their own, however, as the Generals have had 22 players tally points for them in their opening 11 games. One player to watch is Drew Griffith. Griffith, who was sidelined for the better part of last season due to a concussion, scored two goals and had three assists for the Generals on last year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
The Generals will host the Jaguars Friday and Saturday at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice. Both games will be broadcast on GiTV. The Generals Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey Auction will end tomorrow at 6:30 PM. For more information on upcoming games, GiTV, or the Jersey Auction please visit www.eugenegenerals.com.
