Long Holiday Weekend for Generals
The Eugene Generals (11-10) have a long holiday weekend ahead of them. The Generals have the benefit of staying in Eugene over the weekend, but will face the second place Seattle Totems Friday and Saturday and will host the River City Jaguars on Sunday. Friday and Saturday’s games are scheduled for a 7:35 start time, and the game on Sunday is scheduled for 5:00. The Generals should get a much needed fan boost for the Sunday game, however, as the Generals are hosting Greek Night. All three games are critical for the Generals as they hover one game over .500 with one game remaining in the first half of the season.
“We’re trying to find our stride right now,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We seem to be doing a lot of the right things when it comes to the game, but that just isn’t enough sometimes. We’ve been playing with a lot of heart lately, and a lot of things should start clicking soon. We just have to keep plugging away and focus on the next game.”
In both two game weekend series’ with the Totems the Generals have split, and both times the Generals have taken the first game. The Generals remain two points ahead of the Puget Sound Tomahawks for third place in the division, and trail the Totems by eight points. Both teams have a game in hand over the Generals, and the Generals will make that up on Sunday against River City.
This is a very critical weekend for the Generals, and they better hope that things start clicking now. If the Generals are able to sweep the weekend, something they’ve only accomplished three times this season, they will move to within two points of the Totems, and should extend their lead over the Puget Sound Tomahawks, who face the streaking Tri-City Titans this weekend. The Generals will have another chance next weekend to gain more ground on the Totems as they face the struggling River City Jaguars for two more, and the Totems will face the Puget Sound Tomahawks.
All three games this weekend will take place at Lane Events Center-Ice, and all three will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
