Generals Trade for Woodring
The Eugene Generals (16-10) made their first big trade of the season earlier today. Just two days after the Generals took two games from the River City Jaguars in Beaverton, OR they have made a trade that will send Generals second year forward Alex Ironside to the Jaguars for workhorse Sean Woodring. Sean will join his younger brother, and current NOR PAC save percentage leader, Dylan on the Generals.
Woodring, who was an assistant captain for River City, has played in all twenty-five games for the Jaguars this season, and has posted nine goals, two assists, and forty-five penalty minutes this season. Three of Woodring’s nine goals have been powerplay goals, and one was a shorthanded goal. Those points will benefit the Generals, but Woodring will bring invaluable intangibles to the team as well.
“Sean will bring more intensity to the team, which is something we’ve been lacking,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We have all the talent on this team, but Sean will bring intensity that should infect the entire team and bring us to the next level.”
The Generals will lose Ironside in the deal with River City. Ironside has played in eighteen of the Generals twenty-six games, and has four goal and two assists.
“Alex has been a solid player for the Generals over the last year and a half,” Hartly stated. “Its tough to lose a player like that, but you have to make sacrifices to be successful in Junior hockey.”
Woodring is scheduled to report to the Generals in the next couple of days, and should make his debut in a Generals uniform before the Christmas break. For more information on Generals players please visit eugenegenerals.com.
