Generals Rout Tomahawks

The Eugene Generals (17-12) dominated the Puget Sound Tomahawks (12-17) tonight 7-2 at Lane Events Center-Ice for Bi-Mart 2-for-1 Night. The Generals started the scoring early, and kept on pouring it on until the game was completely out of hand. The win moves the Generals to 5-2 in the season series with the Tomahawks and extends their lead over the Tomahawks and the Tri-City Titans for third in the NOR PAC Pacific Division.

“The boys came out tonight and played a real physical game,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated after the game. “That translated more, and better, opportunities that the boys were able to capitalize on.”

This was a crucial win for the Generals as they dropped their last two games. The Generals were able to capitalize on three of their six powerplay opportunities, and forced Puget Sound to go zero for seven on theirs. The playoff push has begun for the Generals, and if the Generals play like they did tonight during the rest of the regular season they will be in a great position for the playoffs. It isn’t mathematically impossible for teams to move up or down in the standings, but if everything holds the same the Generals will face the Seattle Totems (Generals are 4-2 against Seattle this season) in the first round.

The Big Town Hero of the game for the Generals was Ryan Schank who scored two goals and had two assists. Garrett Bossert had two goals on the night, Michael Frei had a goal and an assist, and Justin Kern and Troy Mytinger had two assists each.

The Generals will face the Puget Sound Tomahawks again tomorrow night at 7:35 at Lane Events Center-Ice. The game will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games and GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
