The Eugene Generals (18-12) put on another show tonight against the Puget Sound Tomahawks (12-18) at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals, for the second night in a row, dominated from the opening face off, and finished the night with a 10-3 victory over the Tomahawks. The Generals out-shot Puget Sound 89-27, and didn’t let up until the final whistle blew.
“We didn’t let up after the big win last night,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We played our game and forced the issue, and that’s why we came out on top tonight. It feels great to get two big wins heading into the break, and I hope the time off reenergizes the boys and we come off the break as hot as we were this weekend.”
The Generals took the first three goals of the game, and ended the first period with a 3-1 lead. Michael Frei started the scoring when Matt Vasilie assisted him. Garrett Bossert put the Generals on the board again to put the Generals up 2-0. Matt Vasilie and Ryan Schank assisted Justin Kern for the Generals third, and final, goal of the first period.
The second period was all Generals as they put the only five goals of the period. Ryan Schank, Ben Tikka, Michael Frei, Sean Woodring, and Steven Slattery all put up goals in the period. Troy Mytinger has three assists in the period, and Ryan Schank Justin Adams, Garrett Bossert, and Trent McKee all had an assist in the second.
The Generals split the third period with the Tomahawks, but Sean Woodring was able to get his second goal of the game and of his short Generals career. Kevin Crawford was also able to get a goal, and Matt Bilder and Tyler MacMillen both had assists.
The Generals will return from the break on the 28th to face the Tri-City Titans in Pasco, WA. The games on the 28th and 29th will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games please visit eugenegenerals.com.
