Last Regular Season Home Weekend for Generals

The Eugene Generals (21-18) will square off against the Puget Sound Tomahawks (14-26) for the last two games at Lane Events Center-Ice during the NOR PAC 2006-07 Regular Season. The Generals have locked up the number three spot in the Pacific Division, but the Tomahawks remain two points behind the Tri-City Titans for the fourth and final spot in the Pacific Division. The Tomahawks will be hungry to get into the playoffs, but the Generals will be looking for momentum heading into the playoffs.

“This is going to be a testing weekend for us,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We have already clinched the season series 5-2, but our guys have to remember that they beat us twice. After falling to Seattle twice last weekend we need to build up a bunch of momentum in the next couple of weeks. We start that by trying to win every shift we’re out on the ice for. If we can do that we should win every period and every game.”

The Generals are 5-2 against the Tomahawks this season and have outscored Puget Sound by a total of 51-28 in the seven games played to this point, but the Tomahawks can’t be taken lightly by the Generals. The Tomahawks surprised the Generals with a 4-3 victory the first time the two teams met this season in Bremerton, WA, and once again surprised Eugene in Bremerton with an 8-6 victory. After their second loss to the Tomahawks it took a penalty shot by Garrett Bossert in double overtime to pull out a win for the Generals. All three of those games were in Bremerton, but the Generals came into the games overconfident and were lucky to walk away with one win.

During the three games the Generals have faced the Tomahawks at home they have outscored the Tomahawks by an average of six goals per game, have scored an average of almost ten goals a game, and the last game the Generals a Tomahawks met in Eugene the Generals walked all over the Tomahawks with a 10-3 win.

The Generals will also host their last Special Event Night of the season with Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday. There are high hopes for Fan Appreciation Night as the Generals last Special Event Night (Veterans and Military Night) brought in the largest Saturday crowd the Generals have seen in their two year existence. The Generals will be providing official game pucks and autographed posters for the first two hundred fifty fans in the door. Gates open at 6:30 PM on Friday and Saturday.

The games Friday and Saturday will be at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice. Both games this weekend will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games, Special Event Nights, or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
