The Eugene Generals are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Dayne Cole.
Cole is the team’s sixth announced signing of the current offseason and the first defenseman. He joins forwards William Wallace, Blaine Krona, Nathan Leach, Tyelor Doster and goaltender Sean Leonard, all of which signed earlier this month.
The Wasilla, Alaska native joins the Generals after previously playing for Colony High School where he helped guide the team to a third place finish in the ASAA/First National Cup, the school’s highest-ever finish in a state hockey tournament.
“Dayne really stood out on what proved to be a very talented Colony team,” said Coach Kern. “He was a huge part of Colony’s backbone, and he’ll be a good fit to come in and serve as the commander out there for our defensive corps.”

“I actually knew all four of them beforehand,” said Cole. “I had specifically talked to Logan and Bloemer quite a bit before making the decision. They both stated how much they loved being in Eugene and they really encouraged me to come down and explore the opportunity.”
“We’ve built a great relationship with [Colony Head Coach] Jamie Smith and [Colony Assistant Coach] Harold Henderson,” added Kern. “It’s gotten to the point where Harry will bring players in to his office, sit them down to talk about juniors and start that conversation with us. After seeing the success that those Colony guys have had in Eugene the last few seasons, it makes it that much easier for those coaches to turn around and say, ‘Hey, you need to check this team out. They’ve done great by these kids, so give them a look.’”
"I'm really excited," said Cole. "I'm looking forward to getting down there, meeting my new family and hopefully making as deep of a run as we possibly can."
