Public Relations/Communications Intern

Term: September 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019

Hours: Part-time position with hours concentrated on games days (generally Friday and Saturday night). Internship may convert to full-time position. 

Compensation:  Paid internship commensurate with experience and skill. Travel expenses. May convert to full-time position. 

Description: The Eugene Generals are looking for a Public Relations/Communications Intern to serve as the main content developer of its major media properties for the 2016-2017 season. 

This Intern will be responsible for the implementation of a media campaign via traditional and social media mediums, including direct mail, team website, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media networks. Such communications will include press releases, feature stories on the players and coaches, and team posts on social media. Intern will coordinate with game-day social media operator. 

The Intern may travel with the team to various league sites throughout Oregon and Washington at the team’s expense during the hockey season. Most games are Friday/Saturday. Travel will be limited to about 1-2 times per month or less. 

This is an excellent opportunity for Intern to develop a strong portfolio of work that will demonstrate the capabilities and progress of PR and Communications efforts during a period of time. Intern will be responsible for own content and reports to the Associate General Manager. This position will be centered out of Eugene, OR. 

This internship may be converted to a full-time position based on the quality of work of the intern. 

Requirements: This Intern must currently be enrolled in the University of Oregon or Lane Community College and be over 18 years of age. Current journalism majors preferred. Strong writers will gain significantly stronger consideration. Proficiency in the following software required: web browser, MS Office (Word, Excel). Proficiency in the following software is a plus: Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere.

 

In-Game Cameraman

Term: September 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019

Hours: Gamedays, typically Friday/Saturday nights, up to eight (8) times per month (per yet unreleased game schedule)

Compensation: Commensurate with skill and experience. 

Description: Filming Eugene Generals games to be live streamed via EGHN, the Eugene Generals Hockey Network, Tier III Junior Hockey's only free and HD broadcast.

Requirements: None. Video/broadcast background preferred. Training will be provided. 

 

Gameday Operations Intern

Term: September 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019

Hours: Gamedays, typically Friday/Saturday nights, up to eight (8) times per month (per yet unreleased game schedule)

Description: Conducting in-game (a.k.a. on-ice) promotions; interacting with fans on a routine basis; organizing and executing various promotions, events, giveaways, and theme nights; overseeing public address announcements and ensuring that the game continues to move/flow nicely while also maintaining a high-energy atmosphere inside the arena; organizing various contests and competitions with fans (and sometimes players).

Requirements: None. Prior MC and/or public speaking experience strongly preferred. Training will be provided. 

 

Gameday Social Media Intern

Term: September 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019

Hours: Gamedays, typically Friday/Saturday nights, up to eight (8) times per month (per yet unreleased game schedule)

Description: Overseeing Eugene Generals social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat) before and during home games, providing updates, videos, photos, and behind-the-scenes content. 

Requirements: Social media experience preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
