Eugene, OR. -The Eugene Generals (8-11-0-1) ended their road stand by falling 6-1 against the Bellingham Blazers (17-2-0-2) Saturday night.
The Generals have played their last six games all away from home. During the six-game road trip, which spanned the course of three consecutive weekends, the Generals accumulated a record of 1-5.
The Blazers struck first when they scored 15:43 into the game. Justin Sullivan had the team’s first goal of the night, coming on assists from Garrett Foster and Mark MacDonald.
Similar to Friday’s game, the Blazers scored three unanswered goals in the second period, giving themselves a 4-0 cushion. Sasha Perron scored 5:50 into the frame, followed by goals from Vladyslav Yefremov and Scott Hansen later in the period less than two minutes apart.
The Generals scored their lone goal of the game 2:59 into the final period. Marks Mezsargs connected for the Generals, with Dans Berzanskis recording his second assist of the weekend.
Nick Scherbinin scored the Blazers’ last two goals of the game to secure a 6-1 win. His goals came at 8:55 and 16:47.
In his second start with the Generals, Lucas Paulsen recorded a total of 70 saves on 76 shots from the Blazers. Saturday’s game marked the first loss for Paulsen in a Generals’ uniform.
The Generals will finally play at home next weekend for the first time in almost a month. The team will host the Cheney Icehawks Friday and Saturday night, both beginning at 7:35. EGHN will provide coverage of both games.
