EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Generals (14-10-0-1) were shutout 7-0 by the West Sound Warriors (22-5-0-0) in tonight’s game.
The Generals have not experienced being shutout twice in one season since the 2010-11 season.
After tonight’s loss, the Generals have lost four consecutive games.
The first period saw no scoring, but was peppered with a handful of penalties.
In the second period, the Warriors rekindled the spark that allowed them to score 12 goals in two periods of play last night.
West Sound scored three unanswered goals in the second period. Warriors’ players Mitchell Pijanowski, Peter Mingus and Jake McMullen each scored one goal in the second period.
The Warriors put the game away in the third period by scoring an additional four goal. Pijanowski scored three goals in the third period, and Domenic Kolbeins scored once to put the Warriors up 7-0 against the Generals.
Generals goalie Brett Avery stopped 29 of the 36 shots he faced in tonight’s loss.
The Generals will travel north to take on the Bellingham Blazers tomorrow at 4:05 p.m.
