Generals Start Home Stretch at Tri-City

The Eugene Generals (18-12) will travel to Pasco, WA this weekend to face the Tri-City Titans (13-17) for the Generals first action after the Holliday break. With fourteen games remaining on the schedule, the Generals currently sit in third place in the NOR PAC Pacific Division standings, and trail the second place Seattle Totems by four points. The Titans are battling for the fourth, and final, playoff spot in the Pacific Division with the Puget Sound Tomahawks, and they currently hold a slim two point lead for the spot.

“We went into the break with two big wins over the Tomahawks, and I hope those wins have carried over,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We’ve been playing solid hockey lately, but we need to kick it into that next gear soon. If we can cut down on some mistakes, and play sixty minutes of hockey every night, we should right where we need to be when the playoffs come around.”

The Generals are currently tied 2-2 in their eight game season series with the Titans. The Generals have had the luxury of hosting all four games, and will have to step it up if they wish to drive away from Pasco with four points. All four games against the Titans have been extremely close, and only one game between the two teams has been decided by more than one goal. The Generals won the first two games of the series, but Tri-City narrowly escaped with two one goal victories during their last weekend series in November. The Tri-City wins were number’s five and six in their eight game winning streak.

The team who wins the special teams battle this weekend will most likely come out on top. The Generals and Titans are about equal in every special teams category, and the team that can shine on the powerplay and penalty kill will have the edge this weekend. Both teams have been on a significant break, however, and it might come down to who can shake off the rust first.

The Generals games this weekend will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
