Generals Fall In Finale Of EHL Series
The Philadelphia Little Flyers defeated the Eugene Generals (2-5-0) by a final score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at IceWorks Skating Complex in Aston, Pennsylvania.
Saturday's game was the third and final game of this week's matchups against EHL and EHL Premier opponents, and the Generals saved their most formidable opponent for last. The Little Flyers entered the day sitting atop the Eastern Hockey League with a perfect 9-0-0 record while outscoring EHL opponents by a 48-13 margin.
The game between Eugene and Philadelphia was played under a showcase format featuring two, 25-minute halves, and the Little Flyers carried a 3-0 lead into the intermission after goals from Kevin Brown, Mark Strazisar, and Ryan Candia.
Eugene responded well to start the second period and soon cut Philadelphia's lead back to two when Alex Clark netted his third goal of the week and his team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 17:10 mark on a top-shelf finish after splitting a pair of Philadelphia defenseman.
However, the final seventeen minutes belonged to the Little Flyers as they scored five times with goals from Kyle Scott, Soren Bredeson, Jacob Berg (2), and Mikey Giampapa to ultimately earn an 8-1 victory.
The Generals will now return home to the Northwest early on Sunday morning. The team is scheduled to revisit to the Philadelphia area in January to once again face off against EHL and EHL Premier opponents.
