#MeetTheGens: Christopher Alexakis

You see them on the ice, but what are they like off of the ice? Throughout the 2016-17 season, we'll invite you to #MeetTheGens by taking an in-depth look at the Eugene Generals roster one-by-one. Today, we introduce you to goaltender Christopher Alexakis.

Christopher Alexakis, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, is currently in his first season with the Generals but is a familiar face to Generals fans. After playing with the Bellingham Blazers last season, Alexakis headed South join the Generals as the team made the move up to the United States Premier Hockey League this past offseason. So far in Eugene, Alexakis has a 2-0-0-0 record while posting a stellar goals against average of 1.58. While playing for Bellingham, Alexakis went 14-4 with 6 shutouts and a very impressive .948 save percentage. Before playing for Bellingham last season, Alexakis was a standout player for the Alaska Oilers.

Alexakis always knew that he wanted to play junior hockey in order try to and get as much exposure as he possibly could while playing against top quality competition. After many offers this past offseason, Alexakis decided to come play for the Eugene Generals because he knew he could get great exposure while playing in the USPHL, the nation’s premier developmental league. In addition, he also has family in the nearby community, and the upstanding reputations of Head Coach Justin Kern and Assistant Coach Daniel Gomez eventually helped seal the deal.

On top of being to being a top-notch goaltender, he has no trouble finding ways to continue pushing himself to be even better. After junior hockey, Alexakis wants to continue his hockey career while playing in college. While in college, he wants to major in executive business, and in his free time he is an avid competitor in eSports.
